WHAT IS REIKI?
Mikao Usui, a Japanese, is credited as being the re discoverer of the ability to channel life force energy for the benefit of health. It is said he discovered this through meditation in a retreat on a mountainside. A devout Tendai Buddhist Usui dedicated himself to healing the sick and impoverished using what he described as Reiki energy. In 1937 in Hawaii a student of Usui began to offer attunements based on the practice she had learned from her Master.

Such training in Japan was very in depth and prolonged. Attunements from Usui were rare and culturally valued like gold .A high tariff was paid for this elixir.

I practice and teach in Western technique. It is in the West that the association with Chakra energy centres began. A Reiki treatment involves the balancing of the energies in the energy centres. These centres, called Chakra are vortices of energy interconnected by energy channels variously called meridians and in yoga nadis. Reiki is said to be life force energy, also known as Prana, chi and Ki. Our body and existence is described as a blend of different energies. When these energies are in harmony and their flow through the body is not blocked, we will be in good health. Illness is said to reflect a loss of balance in the energies or a blockage in their flow.

TREATMENT
In a Reiki treatment the practitioner acts as a channel for universal life force energy to flow through him into the client. The Reiki is channeled out through chakras in the palms of the practitioner. Hands are placed on the head, neck, body, legs and feet over the sites of the major chakras.

The Reiki itself decides where it is needed. By channeling all over from top to toe energy is
promoted to flow through the energy to heal any condition. It can make you feel better in yourself which may be helpful in your recovery from any illness.

Reiki is a wonderful help to counter the effects of stress anxiety and depression.

During a treatment the client remains fully clothed an lays on a massage couch. Peaceful music is played throughput the treatment, which lasts about one hour.
