I hope that after reading this page you will be looking forward to coming along to your first yoga lesson!

Any one of any age or state of health can benefit from the techniques of yoga. So don't worry if you are unfit, very stiff, or older and creaking a bit you will find that you can practice yoga and feel better in yourself.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING TO CLASS? You will need to bring your own yoga mat - about 6ft long and 3mm or so thick, this we stand, sit and lay down on as we practice postures. T-shirt, stretch pants socks and a jumper to keep warm in relaxation.

All new students are asked about their health to make sure we practice safely and do not aggravate a health problem. A form is provided. It is always wise to ask your G. P. if you are safe to practice yoga.

A class lasts 90 minutes and we begin with centering, taking simple movements and warming stretches as we connect together mind body and breath - the union required for yoga. The major part of the class is asana, the yoga postures. These work the body from top to toe. We take forward, backward and side bends, twists and after some weeks, inversions!
Movement is combined with our breathing and concentration. As the mind absorbs into concentration with he body and the breath, it quietens.

In yoga we work at our own pace and level of experience. It is my job to offer you exercises that are appropriate to a beginner. You are not expected to be very supple - freedom builds as a benefit of practice. You will be encouraged to enjoy your yoga experience. We relax laying down for fifteen minutes at the end of every session. It is here you receive the benefits of your yoga practice.
My goal is for you to feel well in yourself after practice and looking forward to your next experience of yoga. We smile, have fun and relax.

Hope to see you soon.
