I teach yoga at beginner and intermediate levels and welcome all ages of students to my classes. Two of the benefits of yoga asana (postures) are strength and suppleness. The techniques used as we practice bring stillness of mind and great powers of concentration.
The yoga style I teach offers a suitable challenge for all levels. Many students have benefited from yoga to ease muscle and joint pain. So do come along if your mobility is challenged by a health problem, give yoga a try, it could help you greatly.
I have worked with many athletes and sportsmen and women, from Premiership footballers to London Marathon runners, skiers, cyclists, musicians, actresses, teachers, solicitors, shop assistants, electricians, mechanics, motorcyclists all have come through the door. Not forgetting pregnant mums and retired seniors. In fact it is more than likely that many of these people have shared the same yoga class.

I teach yoga based upon the styles of practice I have encountered under different teachers over the past twenty years. All of these teachers have worked with asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, yoga nidra and helped with study of the spiritual philosophy that underlies yoga practice.
II teach asana (postures) to the capabilities of my students. I understand how difficult and for some, how painful, it can be to move and stretch. I ask that you look on your posture practice always in a positive light; for your improvement and well being. Having worked with postures for over twenty years I have the experience of how a yoga practice evolves .My thorough knowledge of anatomy allows me to structure classes to help with specific joint and muscular challenges.

I respect that many people enjoy the deep relaxation that yoga practice brings. I am very aware through personal study, of the effects of depression, severe anxiety and panic attacks. I have adapted the special methods of yoga to help everyone understand how to relax and how yoga can help change our lifestyle, viewpoint on and perception of stressful things. A yoga practice can be extremely beneficial in coping with fear, phobia and panic. Breath work, meditation and mantra are all part of putting together a yoga practice for your well being.

There are many approaches to teaching yoga. For some people it is quite bewildering to find a yoga class where posture work is very very gentle. You might have taken such a yoga lesson and thought that once was enough! I hope that if that has happened to you I can show you what yoga has to offer when it is practiced in a therapeutic way for improvement and conditioning. Strength and suppleness build gradually with patient practice. Both involve work. With that work comes understanding of how you are put together and why it is sometimes very hard to move at all! If you practice you will give yourself the opportunity to change and improve.

It is very important to understand that any one of any age can practice yoga. It is simply not the case that yoga is exclusively for the elderly and infirm. My classes are made up from every age decade. So don't be surprised if you are in your early twenty's and walk in to a room with several senior citizens; or vice versa. Everyone works at their own level and it is in the skill of teaching that everyone is given a good workout. It is a very rare event if a yoga class is composed entirely of twenty somethings or sixty somethings.

You will always be encouraged in my classes. Granted some exercises may feel very hard, but then, some will feel very easy. We are working to make the hard ones become easier. You will be taught why the hard ones are so hard and what you are doing to make them more comfortable.

Having found my web site tell a friend and bring a friend to class - spread the word yoga's good for you!
